Kathleen (Kat) Moman

Piano, Flute, Guitar, Vocals

Raised in rural Bartholomew County, Kathleen has been playing music since she was five. She is a classically trained pianist and flutist under the instruction of Nancy Crump, and was a three-time semi-finalist in the World Piano Competition. Kathleen also plays guitar, upright bass, and sings. She was mentored into bluegrass music through the Possum Glory Train bluegrass band out of Hope, IN.

As teens, Kathleen and her younger sister, Natalie, formed the Grimes Girls bluegrass duo and collected some devoted fans as they traveled throughout their home state of Indiana and the Midwest playing a combination of bluegrass, Celtic, gospel and classical music. The girls played at numerous churches, fairs, festivals; the Indiana Convention Center for the National Extension Educators Convention; Pioneer Village at the Indiana State Fair; the Indianapolis Liederkranz; the Glasgow Highland Games in Glasgow, KY; and the Columbus Ethnic Expo. They also opened for multi-Grammy award-winner Tom Chapin at White River State Park.

After Kat married in 2010, she decided to move to California to be with her husband and The Grimes Girls had to stop performing. Kat returned to Indiana in July 2012 and subsequently started performing again with Autumn's Dawn.

Kathleen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Western Governors University and currently is a Stay at Home Mom and music teacher.  She is married to John Mark Moman and they have a girl, a boy, and are also foster parents.
